Student spot lite

Meet Kobe, VSC's first registered player in the Vail Soccer Club. In 2007, Kobe played on a VSC U-12 girls team---had her picture in the paper while playing a game during the Fort Lowell Shootout, and wants you to know about VSC's second year of club soccer. For 2008, Kobe is already practicing with her team, and is awaiting the beginning of games in October.

VSC's registration for the 2008-2009 season remains "open" but has very few team openings. Before you sign up for this season you should call 398-5850 to see if there are openings for your player’s age group. You can read more about the specifics of age group registration by reading about our recreational and competitive divisions in the navigation menu to the right.

If you are registering----please follow the information below in the "how to register" section of the web page. If you have questions, please direct them to vailsoccerclub@cox.net or call the number listed above.

On 6 September, VSC will “kickoff” the in-house league with a training day. That session is for your team (coach and players and parents) and is at 9 or 1015 or 1130 at Cienega HS's north field. The field will be divided into "stations" with the players learning a practice drill at each station---the players should have fun, while the coaches are learning some practice tips. Also, one station will be the uniform sizing station---where VSC personnel will have some “youth size” clothing for verification of "what to order"--- all you need to do is have your players show 10 minutes before their session begins with a soccer ball, shoes, shin guards, and water. Your coach will tell you which time slot is yours. Each session will last one hour.

PCJSL has released the 2008-2009 schedule for all U-11 through U-19 teams. U15 to U-19 teams will begin play on 6 September through 1 November (regular season games), and U-11 through U-14 will use the same dates for their preseason. Regular season for the U-11 to U-14 is 25 October to 20 December. Second half dates for U-11 to U-14 begin on 3 January until 28 February (season over)----second half dates for U-15 to U-19 are 14 February to 4 April. For more information about specific dates of games and team schedules please go to pcjsl.com and click on “schedules”.

  1. I encourage you to first navigate our web site to view our club vision and goals.
  2. Then I would ask you to know that VSC will play a recreational program for U-10 and below, and a competitive program within the Pima County Junior Soccer League (PCJSL) for U-11 and above.
  3. The U-10 and below will play on Vail School District fields----the U-11's and above have the west field of Cienega High School as their home field.
  4. You should know that when you register you will be asked to submit a birth certificate for verification of your player's birth date (required by USSF), and also to send a check (you will be told via email when to send checks) for annual fees to, and made out to, the Vail Soccer Club----8110 South Houghton Road, Suite 158, Box 108, Tucson, AZ, 85747.
  5. The club season will run in tandem with the PCJSL schedule for the benefit of inter-club play. Games will begin in September and end in March. (There may be some minor modifications of our schedule since we as a club want to mirror the Vail School District school year which is different than TUSD where most other clubs play.)
  6. Fees to play in VSC are: U-6 ($60), U-8 ($80), U-10 ($90), and U-11 and above ($100). Because VSC is non-profit, I believe I owe you a full accounting of where your money goes----a full accounting of every "registration" penny. I will post the "every penny" page (an itemized list of where your money goes) on our web site for your full review. Suffice it to say though - your money goes to your players.
  7. Practice times will be coach determined but VSC will strive to have your recreational player playing at a local school field---the competitive player will be at Cienega High School. Games will be on Saturdays with few exceptions.
  8. Please address any questions you might have to VSC's email (info@vailsoccerclub.org) or by phone (398-5850).
